I know you from 11yrs ago

Feels good to see a familiar face again. Nice that we can just pick up where we left off.

I always have the subtle jitters whenever I'm seeing people who I've not seen for a while. It's not the kind of nervousness you get when you have to impress someone you really want to make the cut. Neither is it the kind where you're bouncing off the walls like when you've won some really cool award and they want you to give some sort of speech and people like Albert Einstein will be in the audience.

It's the subliminal anticipation of the process of reconciling the inevitable differences created by time and distance that are not shared. Wondering what has changed. What will we say? What will we be thinking? What's going to happen?

And I'm still amazed at how smoothly things always go when old friends meet up after prolonged periods of absence. Doesn't matter if it's been years. Might have a slight initial awkwardness, but it doesn't take much to be on the same page again. Fred observed that there's this comfort level. I agree, and its pricelessness can be summed up with, "I know you from 11 years ago. We were in the awesomest band ever!" And I think I will still be amazed at how this bond works when we are all chasing our grandchildren at the playground.
